Overview

This is a pleasant, moderately easy trail that winds through a serene forest, leading you to a beautiful lake and two fascinating caves along the way. It was our first time exploring this route, and despite it being the dry season, the surroundings were surprisingly lush and vibrant. With cloudy skies and delightful weather accompanying us, the hike felt refreshing and peaceful. The trail itself is gentle in terms of elevation gain, making it accessible for most hikers. However, certain stretches can be a bit challenging due to dense vegetation, including patches of thorny bushes that require careful navigation. We can only imagine how much more breathtaking and vibrant this trail would be during the monsoon season, when the forest is at its greenest.

Trail description

The trail begins at a modest starting point beside a few village houses, from where a narrow path gently leads you into the heart of the forest. As you walk further, the sounds of the village fade away, replaced by the calm and quiet of nature. After a few hundred meters, you’ll come across a picturesque lake set against the backdrop of rolling hills. It’s a perfect spot to pause, soak in the views, and even take a refreshing dip once you’ve completed the hike. The setting feels serene and untouched, making it one of the highlights of the trail. Beyond the lake, the path re-enters the forest. While the overall elevation gain remains manageable, there are a few slightly steep stretches along the way. Some sections can also be a bit tricky due to overgrown, thorny bushes, so careful footing is required. As you approach the latter part of the hike, two distinct cave formations come into view, adding a sense of adventure and intrigue to the experience. Upon reaching the peak, you’re rewarded with sweeping views of the village and the surrounding hills. There’s plenty of open space at the top, making it an ideal place to sit down, enjoy breakfast or lunch, and simply relax while taking in the scenery.

🌦️ Season

Any time of the year. Might need more caution on the steep rocky patches during monsoons

🎟️ Permit

Technically, this trail is inside a forest. But it's very unlikely that your entry into the forest through this trail will be blocked.

🐾 Wildlife

We did not encounter any wildlife during our hike, apart from a few village dogs near the starting point of the trail. They appeared somewhat hostile, so it’s important to remain calm, avoid provoking them, and pass by cautiously. While we didn’t personally spot any wild animals, there are indications that the area may occasionally see bear activity. Hikers are advised to stay alert, avoid venturing alone, and consider making some noise while walking through dense sections of the forest to minimize the chances of an unexpected encounter.
