Overview

Image

A longer, less-explored extension of the jungle-lake trail that pushes deeper into reserve forest beyond the lake - only attempt if you're experienced and have a lot of daylight to spare.

  • Still haven't completely explored the whole trail. So only attempt this if you're experienced.
  • Also, since this could be quite long if you plan to safely finish it, plan to have a good amount of time in daylight.
  • Carry headlamps if you're planning to go deep into the forest.

🌦️ Season

Any season should be fine. Just be extra careful of snakes and other wild animals during the wet season.

🎟️ Permit

This is a reserve forest. But there's no monitoring and I have not come across any problems with accessing the place.

But if you're planning to camp here at night, please consult with locals first.

🐾 Wildlife

Could be active wildlife here. Especially bears and leopards. You don't need to worry when there's daylight. But only venture out here in the dark in a group no smaller than 3-4 people.

🌊 Water body

  • The lake is pretty clean in my opinion. Kinda muddy, but no pollutants coming in. Mostly rain water trickling in from the surrounding jungle.
  • But please be cautious if getting in to swim. There are rocks in the lake that you might hit. There's also a well in the middle, whose walls might not be visible when the water level is high. And the depth of lake can be more than 15 feet depending on the season.

Trail description

  • The trail to the lake is nice and wide. Doesn't need much trail finding. Very straightforward.
  • Beyond the lake the trail continues northwest and looks like it might go all the way to the village on the other side of the forest. But I haven't ever had enough time to safely reach the other side. If you plan to explore this trail, please carry a headlamp and go as at least a group of 3-4 experienced folks.
  • Because there might be leopards and bears in the deep forest.
  • Only go here when you have ample daylight remaining.

Cleanliness

Pretty clean. Maybe some trash from local villagers and herders.

Crowd

Almost no one apart from the locals know or visit this place.
